When this stucco relief of the Virgin and Child was sold at Sotheby’s in 2011, it was unpublished and had just been attributed to Michele da Firenze by Dr. Francesco Caglioti. As Cagliotti noted at the time of the sale, this composition can be compared in particular to a relief in the Victoria and Albert Museum (inv. no. 73-1866) and a relief of the Virgin and Child in the Bargello, Florence (inv. no. 265/ 1879).
