The silver mount applied with the Roman numerals XXXIV for the 34th Foot above the battle honour PENINSULA within a wreath, a foliate band around rim and terminating in a thistle mount at other end, with rake, spike, snuff spoon and mallet each dependent from chains, cover inscribed inside Presented by Captn. Osborne Markham to his Brother Officers, 34th. Regt., 1838, gilt interior
