Although of much later date, the carved figures adorning the arms of this chair are clearly inspired by the extraordinarily naturalistic work of the celebrated Venetian carver Andrea Brustolon, who produced a number of important suites of furniture, including one now in the Palazzo Rezzonico, Venice, and another in the Palazzo Quirinale, Rome.
