Tapering cylindrical, repoussé chased on one side with a figure of Venus, seated beside a tree, with two love-birds at her side, and on the other Adonis, in a woodland landscape, one hand pointing up to the sky, the other carrying a spear, each within a shell and scroll cartouche, with surrounding foliate scrolls, above putti within a similarly decorated border, surrounded by scrolls, fruiting vines and shells, the hinged cover chased with further rocaille decoration and with a suspension ring, the inside fitted with similarly decorated implements including: a folding knife, scissors, tweezers, pencil, ear scoop and two leaved-ivory tablets, the knife and scissors each with a French import mark
