SIGNED MENG ZISHOU AND DATED WUSHEN YEAR, CORRESPONDING TO 1908

Of rounded square shape, delicately painted in bright colours with 'the Qiao sisters' reading from a book while seated on a stone bench under a pine tree in a garden on one side, and with two dancing ladies entertaining three men drinking wine and eating at a table in an interior on the other--2½in. (6.3cm.) high, stopper

Hugh Moss mentions, op. cit., p. 37 "He (Meng Zishou) had a rather sketchy style...at his best his style produced some fine results as is shown by this bottle. His working period was from 1904 to 1914. His fine work is well worth having, but does not appear to be common".
