A George II japanned longcase clock
The hood with stepped caddy top, glazed side panels and inset columns, the breakarch trunk door decorated with chinoiserie figures and pagodas, the 12in. square brass dial with added arch applied with a silvered convex disc signed John/Finch/London, Indian mask spandrels to a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with fleur-de-lys half hour and lozenge half quarter hour markers, matted centre with scored inner line, recessed subsidiary silvered seconds disc (marked at intervals of 10), ringed winding holes, with bird and flower engraving around the date aperture, steel hands, the four ringed pillar movement with anchor escapement and inside countwheel strike on bell; dial and movement associated to case, circa 1730 -- 94in. (239cm.) high
