A TACHIKANAGUSHI TYPE TSUBA
EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1850)

The shakudo nanako plate is of tachi form (kirikome mokko) with a slightly raised and polished rim and edge. The nanako is overlaid in relief with five family crests on the face and three crests on the reverse. It is provided with a kogai hitsu-ana but no kozuka hitsu-ana--height 9.5cm., width 8.9cm., thickness 4.75mm.
