Yeats's Life in the West of Ireland, published in 1912, was a compilation of drawings made by the artist referring to incidents and characters that he saw on his return to the West from Devon every year. The drawings may all have been produced from around 1904 until 1912, or close to the time of publication since the size and treatment is uniform. The work was issued in a special edition of 150 numbered copies, each with an original sketch signed by the author.
