Bred and owned by Thomas Mellon Evans's Buckland Farm, Pleasant Colony by His Majesty out of Sun Colony was the Champion three year old colt of 1981 and won the Kentucky Derby, The Preakness, The Woodward, and The Wood Memorial. He was third in the Belmont and second in the Travers. Pleasant Colony was retired to Kentucky where he has enjoyed a very successful career at stud, siring numerous stakes winners.
