Heptagonal upright box with slightly domed hinged cover, the cover with raised reserve chased with shell on a sablé ground, the corners also decorated with shell, on a matted ground with trelliswork cartouches, the burnished base centred by a Rococo cartouche chased with fruit against a matted landscape background, the tapering sides with rocaille ornaments on a sablé ground, the interior fitted with a detachable gold tray and gold-topped glass ink and pounce pots
