The patient, M. Guedot, is shown in four different positions with a copy of a drawing showing a young man in three similar positions. Charcot and Londe worked together on experiments which would help elucidate the pathology of human movement, including tremors, epilepsy and hysteria. These images of sequential movement reflect Londe's interest in motion photography which he later studied with Paul Richer, a colleague of Etienne Marey.
