signed, dated and titled 'Chittaprosad 23 June 44 Munshiganj' and inscribed in Bengali (lower left); further inscribed 'Haripada Haldar - Dysentry + malaria - in the Relief / Hospital - sister in the orphanage - / aunt (Pisi), widow and a destitute herself is the only one they / can "depend". The father was a small shopkeeper who died of malaria only a month ago. / 23 June 44 EHR. Munshiganj.' (on the reverse)
