signed, inscribed, dated and titled 'chittaprosad 17AUG44 NOAPARA CHITTAGONG Peasant Abdul Aziz - urkichan' (lower right); further indistinctly dated and inscribed '17 09 44 - ER Hospital Noapara / Abdul Aziz - of Urkichar (Noapara) - young man of 24 - / suffering from Kala-azar since last 2 months - previously / malaria for 3 months. Lost his wife last year, just one / year after their marriage, - she develops dropsy while fed by / the relief kitchen. Aziz was a peasant, sold out everything / including the small bit of land, for food.' (on the reverse)
