A similar yellow jade carving of a coiled camel dated from the Qing dynasty is preserved in the Palace Museum in Beijing and is illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum, Jadeware III, vol. 42, cat. 92, p. 112. Earlier exemples of the jade carvings of the same shape are known, such as a yellow and beige jade camel dated from the Tang dynasty sold at Sotheby's New York, 10 September 2019, lot 205.
