the hood with outset reeded columns and swan-neck pediment with and spire finials, stepped ogee-shaped trunk door flanked by quarter pilasters, the plinth on bracket feet with reeded chamfered angles, the painted dial signed Jno. Wyatt Altrincham with subsidiary seconds ring and shaped calendar aperture to the centre, pierced blue hands, foliate painted spandrels, painted moonphase in the arch, the four pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement, the backplate stamped T, now with added three pillar quarter strike train wit hindirect wind from the side, playing on eight bells or on four gongs, with hour strike on further gong, strike/silent lever by IX, bell/gong selection lever by II; altered and restored -- 102in.(260cm.) high
