A TIBETAN GILT IRON MOUNTED HORSE HARNESS
15TH/16TH CENTURY
The harness is in two sections and comprises fourteen pierced gilt iron fittings later mounted on embroidered textile and leather straps, the rectangular and T-shaped fittings and the large circular fitting are all embellished with sinuous dagons entwined within leafy scrollwork, the two small circular plaques are decorated with a flowerhead centred in a leafy scroll.
The largest plaque 6¼ in. (16 cm.) diam.
