JIAQING IRON-RED SEAL MARK AND OF THE PERIOD (1796-1820)
The bowl is delicately potted with gently flaring rim, and the exterior is enamelled in bright colours with the 'Hundred Boys' motif.

A very similar pair of bowls with the same design was sold in these rooms, 9 November 2010, lot 332.

The 'hundred boys' motif expresses the wish for progeny and numerous offspring, while the boys playing with lanterns and lighting firecrackers may suggest that the scene depicted is the Lantern Festival held on the 15th day of the lunar new year.
