This gueridon is after the model made by Gaspard Schneider (maître 1786) with mounts by Thomire in 1786 and displayed at the Petit Trianon, Versailles. It differs from the original which had Sèvres biscuit medallions and legs inset with rectangular glazed gouaches attributed to Lagrenée. François Linke made variations of this celebrated model, see Sotheby's, New York, 24 October 2007, lot 342.
