SHANG DYNASTY, ANYANG, 12TH-11TH CENTURY BC
Of slender waisted outline with flared curved ends, the upper end of each side finely carved, on the convex side with four taotie masks stacked above a narrow scroll band and a band of pendent blades, the slightly concave reverse carved with three vertically arranged dragons shown in profile, above scroll and pendent blade bands, and bordered at one edge by a raised band of scrolls interrupted by five equally spaced solid rectangles, the lower end of each side uncarved, and on the concave reverse forms a scoop
