These candelabra bases are virtually identical to bases on a pair of candelabra purchased in 1809 by the Imperial Garde Meuble and described in the accounts as 'Une paire de candélabra à six lumières, les tireurs d'arc'. Acquired from the marchand A.T. Badouin, the candelabra were eventually placed in the Grand Salon of the château de Bagatelle in 1814. One of the pair was stolen and the other damaged during the occupation of Paris in 1814, when soldiers camped at Bagatelle, and replacements were furnished by the lustrier Valentin. The replacement candelabra were described in the inventory of Bagatelle as being entièrement doré mat, à l'exception du socle au vert antique. The candelabra were moved to the chambre de la Reine of the Grand Trianon in 1837. (D. Ledoux-Lebard, Le Grand Trianon: Meubles et Objets d'art, Paris, 1975, p. 90, and H. Ottomeyer, P.
