The hood with swan neck cresting, fret panels to the sides and outset gilt-brass reeded columns, with floral marquetry inlays to the trunk door and plinth, the 12in. wide brass dial with cherub and foliate spandrels to a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, matted centre with subsidiary seconds ring, blued steel hands, the arch applied with a plaque inscribed Tempus/Fugit, the eight day movement with anchor escapement, rack strike on going with quarter chimes on four further gongs -- 93in. (236.5cm.) high
