The hood with brass ball and spire finials to a pagoda top centred by a blind fret panel, with outset columns with Corinthian capitals and brass stop-fluting to the front, breakarch glazed side panels, the trunk door with bats' wing marquetry inlay to the arch, on plinth with concave corner panel and roundel mouldings to the angles, the 12in. wide brass dial with rocaille cast spandrels to a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring signed John Distin/GUERNSEY, the silvered and engraved centre with subsidiary seconds ring and arch date aperture, steel hands, with silvered arch inscribed THE MOON'S AGE above painted rolling moon, the eight day movement with four pillars, anchor escapement and rack strike on bell -- 96½in. (245cm.) high
