A George III green-japanned longcase clock with quarter repeat, circa 1780
The pagoda top hood centred by a fret panel and with later mahogany finials, glazed side panels and inset columns, the breakarch trunk door decorated in gilt chinoiserie, with conforming decoration to the stepped plnth, the 12in. wide brass dial with scroll spandrels to a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, matted centre with subsidiary seconds ring and date aperture, applied with a replaced silvered plaque bearing signature Benjamin Vulliamy/London, later blued steel hands, with strike/silent ring in the arch, the eight day movement with five pillars, anchor escapement and strike on bell, with pull quarter repeat on two bells, secured to the backboard with a bracket, restored decoration -- 102in. (259cm.) high
