A RARE SET OF TEN BLUE AND WHITE SAUCERS
SHUNZHI FOUR-CHARACTER MARKS AND OF THE PERIOD (1644-1661)

Each dish is painted with a central medallion with a qilin supporting books on a cloud, surrounded by four mythical beasts around the cavetto, the exterior variously painted with detached sprays of prunus, pine, bamboo, lotus flower and chrysanthemum, all covered with a clear blue-tinged glaze (chips to foot and rim polished in places)
Five of 7 3/8 in. (18.7 cm.), and five other, 5 7/8 in. (14.8 cm.) diam., box (10)
