Cerf frottant ses bois contre un arbre (Stag rubbing his antlers against a tree)

Incorporating the same stag that appears in Cerf dépouillant ses bois et daine et faon (see lot 71), and the Faon de cerf couché, (see lots 59-60), this model was first offered in Barye's 1857-8 catalogue. The modèle formed part of lot 718 in the Atelier sale and was subsequently edited by Barbedienne.
