Two Archaistic Jade Vessels
Yuan/Ming dynasty, 13th-16th century
One a white and brown jade pear-shaped vase carved in low relief on the body with confronted archaistic dragons set between rope-twist borders below a band of pendent cicada blades on the neck, carved in high relief with a pair of animal masks on the neck and another on the body, the mottled stone semi-translucent; the other a small russet and greyish-white pouring vessel carved in high relief at either end with a chilong, the body of the one below the spout arched away from the side, with countersunk foot, the stone semi-opaque and with some alteration
