The full name Pichon-Longueville, Comtesse de Lalande was adopted - I think I am right in saying - in 1978. The Comtesse was dropped in 1981. A typical claret vintage completely upstaged by the 1982. the '81 is a fragrant, spicy wine which has tasted very well most recently (1999).
Still rich, ripe and full flavoured. MB
