A Berlin coffee-can and saucer
Circa 1795, underglaze blue sceptre marks, cup with incised 33 ////, the saucer with impressed L (?) //
The can with an orange-ground oval medallion painted in sepia with a river landscape with figures and buildings edged with a narrow gilt band flanked by scrolling foliage, the angular handle enriched with gilt lines, the saucer with a similar circular medallion edged with a gilt band and scrolling foliage, narrow gilt band rims (two repaired chips to rim of can)
