Compare a similar head in the Stoclet Collection, Brussels, illustrated by H.F.E. Visser, Asiatic Art, Amsterdam, 1948, pp. 244-5, pl. 88, no. 161, as Tang period. As with the present head, the elaborate crown is hung with garlands of beads, although the decoration of the crown is different. The features of both faces are very similarly carved.
