This rare stucco relief can be compared to a somewhat larger image of the Buddha (14 1/2 in. high), also shown seated before a rounded mandorla, identified as being from Dunhaung, illustrated in Chugoku kodai chokoku ten, Tokyo, 1959, pl. J.
