Whilst Pilgrim figures of the later gold anchor period are documented (see the examples from the H. J. Joel Collection sold in these Rooms on 17 April 1980, lot 17), the present pair of figures, perhaps inspired by those modelled by J.J. Kändler for Meissen, would appear to be unrecorded in the literature
