A PAIR OF CHELSEA CANDLESTICK-FIGURES OF A SHEPHERD AND SHEPHERDESS, he playing the pipe and with a dog seated at his feet, his companion holding a posy and with flowers in her apron, a lamb at her feet, their clothes painted in colours and enriched in gilding, he standing before a tree applied with pink flowers and she before a tree applied with apple-blossom, surmounted by white and gilt pierced wax-pans and nozzles, on high scroll-moulded bases enriched in gilding (he with nozzle extensively restored and parts of tree lacking, she with wax-pan detached and chips to right fingers, both with chips to flowers and foliage), he with gold anchor mark, circa 1765
