A GILT-METAL-MOUNTED PARIS FLOOR-STANDING OIL-LAMP, the white ground painted with scattered bouquets, the fluted and flower-moulded circular well raised on a reeded tapering cylindrical column modelled with a leaf-moulded capital and bulbous lower part, on a stepped waisted triangular base modelled with three winged sphinx around a knopped leaf-moulded lower stem, the moulded details enriched overall in gilding, mounted with collars around the stem cast with stylised leaves and bosses and on six paw feet (restoration to moulded leaves on capital and lower stem, wing of one griffin broken off, cracks to base), imitation blue interlaced L mark, converted to electricity, circa 1880
