This vitrine-cabinet with paired Renaissance columnettes and inlaid Grecian ornament reflects the French 'Pompeian' style that became fashionable in the 1860's, and later appeared in 'Cabinet Furniture', 1880, issued by the Shoreditch cabinet-makers and wholesalers such as Messrs Charles & Richard Light.
