The blade iorimune, honzukuri with medium point (chu-gissaki), slight curve (torii-zori), forging pattern of very tight itame and tempered edge of suguba of nie, ubu tang, signed Satsuyo jyofu Namekawa ju Maruta Sozaemon Fujiwara Masafusa and dated Kyoho jyu nen Nigatsu bi (1725), 71.7cm.; encased in a vermillion lacquered saya with Tosho tsuba with the design of Genji mon and cherry blossoms, the hilts buff bound and unusually mounted with two pairs of menuki one of warriors and one of wasps, the fuchi-kashira of shakudo nanako with the design of dragon
