A BRONZE SELJUK EWER on short foot, the cylindrical body with flat shoulder rising through a slightly flaring neck to tapering tubular spout and mouth with everted rim, the body finely engraved with three vertical bands of stylised kufic joining horizontal bands of leafy vine simulating calligraphy on a pounced ground above and below, a similar band around the shoulder with three short stylised kufic inscriptions above, the neck engraved at the base with a band of reciprocal trefoils and further kufic inscriptions, the loop handle cast with a faceted cone-shaped boss above and engraved with an interlace band, two crescent rings at the points of attachment, two pairs of similar rings attached to the upper portion of the neck, late 12th century (slight surface corrosion and wear, one small dent, neck rejoined)
