The arms are those of Quicke impaling those of Lavington, as born by Nutcombe Quicke, 2nd son of John Quicke of Newton St. Cyres, Devon, born circa 1722. He was Chancellor of Exeter Cathedral and married Ann, daughter of the Rt. Rev. George Lavington, Bishop of Exeter 1747-1762. They had two daughters, Jane, who married John Gould, and Ann, who married William Oxenham. Nutcombe Quicke assumed the surname of Nutcombe and became Nutcombe Nutcombe.
