In the rococo taste, of baluster form on circular base, elaborately repousse and chased with four exotic masks, rising to a knopped stem with four applied bear heads, the body chased with grotesques masks and rocaille scrolls forming a cartouche, the domed cover with similar chasing, surmounted by a knopped figural finial, later engraved with crest and motto, marked on rim--10 3/4in.(27.4cm.) high
