Of tapering cylindrical form on spreading circular fluted base applied with scrolls and acanthus with central reserves, the body elaborately chased with ovolo and scrolling foliage, set with twenty medals depicting the rulers of Bavaria, with scroll handle applied with a caryatid, the hinged domed cover chased with similar foliate decoration surmounted by a man in medieval garb with a crossbow at his feet and holding a medal depicting Prince Regent Leopold, the reverse inscribed Dem Besten Schutzen, marked under base--overall height 15in.(38cm.)
