This dish would appear to be an unrecorded signed piece by Mayer. According to W.B. Honey, there are four other known signed pieces by Mayer; one in the V&A Museum, London (a plaque painted with portraits of his family, signed and dated 1752); two bowls in the Stuttgart Landesgewerbemuseum (one dated 1766 and signed Franc Mayr Civis et Pictor in Bresnitz, the other Mayer P:); and one of a pair of plates (inscribed F. Mayer Cath. inv. et pinxit Ano 1747) in a collection in Moscow.
