2nd Lieutenant Walter Rowland Heath, aged 37 years, of Herne Bay was killed in action on 23.8.1916 at Nab Valley on the Somme and is commemorated on Thiepval Memorial. Moved into trenches between Thiepval and Ovillers on 23 August, the Battalion attacked at 3 p.m. that day and sustained 112 casualties of all ranks.
