Geneva, circa 1840, the miniature signed 'Troll'
Rectangular box with rounded corners, the cover, sides and base enamelled in translucent blue on an engine-turned checkerboard ground, the intersections applied with gold paillon dots, the cover inset with a rectangular enamel miniature painted with a harbour scene, a lighthouse beyond, within a wavy gold border, the sides and base within floral and geometrical gold bands

The enamel miniature is either by Daniel-Isaac Troll (1748-1812) or, more probably, by his son Aim-Julien Troll (1781-1852) who was associated with J.-L. Richter.
