These girandoles, perhaps emblematic of Spring, have serpentined, flowered and acanthus-wrapped frames that are flanked by mirrorred pilasters springing from Venus-mask brackets and terminating in nymph-herms. Related mirrors of this distinctive cartouche-shaped form were sold by Mrs. M.L. Sangster in these Rooms, 8 July 1982, lot 109 and advertised by Crowther of Syon Lodge in Country Life, 6 November 1964, p.50.
