International Head of Masterpiece and Private Sales | European Furniture & Works of Art

As International Head, Masterpiece and Private sales since 2017, Amjad Rauf’s main focus is Decorative Arts Masterpieces, notably for the London, New York and Paris Exceptional Sales as well those in European and American Collection sales. Based in London, Amjad works closely with his Decorative Arts colleagues globally, collaborating with them on matters of sourcing, valuations, curating and expertise. Responsible for Decorative Arts Private Sales since 2014, Amjad helped stage the exhibition Empire, curated by Hubert de Givenchy and assists Christie’s top clients on the development of their Collections.

As one of the most International members of Christie's Decorative Arts team, Amjad Rauf is fluent in English, French, German and Dutch. He joined the department in in London 1995, was subsequently based in Amsterdam and New York in 1997-1999, re-joining the London team in 2000. From 2003, Amjad was responsible for the department's sales of European Furniture and Tapestries, travelling throughout the Continent. In 2008, he joined the House Sales and Collections team, broadening his responsibilities from European Furniture and Works of Art to European Collection. He has been involved in various landmark sales, such as the collection of the Dukes of Mecklenburg-Schwerin and Oldenburg in 1999 and 2001, the late Dr Anton Dreesmann in 2002 (£22.4m), and was responsible for the sale of the Badminton cabinet in 2004 (£19 million), the most expensive piece of Furniture ever sold at auction. More recently, he was responsible for the sale of Riahi Collection in 2012 (£19.8 Million); Taste of the Royal Court in 2016 (£6.7 Million) and the Eric Albada Jelgersma Collection in 2018, selling just over £22 Million.

Specialist | Post-War & Contemporary Art

Victoria Gramm is a Specialist in the Post-War and Contemporary department in London. Initially based in Amsterdam, working on the auctions as a Junior Specialist, Victoria developed a strong focus on continental European Post-War art, including Kinetic and Op Art, and Minimal and Conceptual Art. Having joined the Day Auction team in London in 2018, Victoria was appointed Head of Sale for First Open, an online auction platform which showcases works by younger contemporary artists. Victoria holds a first-class honours degree in History of Art from the University of Cambridge. Raised between Israel and the UK, Victoria is fluent in English and Russian, and regularly works with Russian clients.
