The engraver and watercolour painter Ludwig Hans Fischer (Salzburg 1848 - Vienna 1915) is extensively discussed in Ulrich Thieme and Felix Becker, Allgemeines Lexikon der bildenden Künstler, XII, Leipzig, 1916, who quote on p. 35 his "besonders reizvolle Wiener Ansichten".
Erwin Pendl (b. 1875) is also mentioned in Ulrich Thieme and Felix Becker (op. cit., XXVI, Leipzig, 1932) and several watercolours by his hand depicting views of Vienna are in the Historical Museum of the City of Vienna.
The views on this fascinating document are the following:
The Belvedere (cover), the Square in front of the Albertina (front side), St-Charles Church (left hand side corner), the Plague Column at the Graben (right hand side corner), the Donner-Fountain at the New Market (left hand side), the Ball House Square (right hand side), the Hofburg seen from the Michaeler Square (rear corner left) and St-Stephen's Cathedral (rear corner right). The two watercolours at the rear side depict countryside views.
The names stamped on the case include names from the best Viennese aristocracy such as Liechtenstein, Andrássy, Croÿ, Esterházy, Festetics, Fürstenberg, Goluchowski, Harrach, Hohenlohe, Kinsky, Lanckoronski, Larisch, Montenuovo, Öttingen, Pallavicini, Potocki, Schlick, Sternberg, Schwarzenberg, Trauttmansdorff, Windischgraetz and Paar.
