A pair of Vauxhall blue-ground vases
Circa 1760, the overglaze decoration perhaps slightly later
Each of inverted pear shape, brightly painted perhaps in the atelier of James Giles with a gallant and a companion in wooded landscapes, within two inverted pear-shaped cartouches edged with gilt scrolls and trellis panels interwoven with flowers and foliage, the waisted feet with gilt bouquets and gilt rims, the flared necks formed as two down-scrolling leaves (small shallow chip to one cartouche, minute flaking to gilding)
