Circular, the detachable cover engraved with a depiction of the Royal George at sail and above an inscription, engraved underneath with a further inscription, marked inside and inside cover

3 7/8 in. (10 cm.) diam.

7 oz. 6 dwt. (228 gr.)
The inscriptions read: 'THE ROYAL GEORGE Quiberon Bay' and 'To Sir Edward Hawke, KB on his succession to the post of FIRST LORD OF THE ADMIRALTY December 1766 in remembrance of his great skill and courage at the BATTLE OF QUIBERON BAY in November 20th 1759 a token Gift from his then CAPTAIN JOHN EVANS of his FLAGSHIP THE ROYAL GEORGE Presented in this Year of our Lord 1666'
