MARK OF EDWARD CORNOCK, LONDON, 1728

It has been noted that Edward Cornock specialised in making tobacco-boxes (see A. Grimwade, London Goldsmiths 1697-1837: Their Marks and Lives, London, 1982, p. 473. and T. Schroder, British and Continental Gold and Silver in the Ashmolean, 2009, cat no. 197). Similar examples exist in a number of museum collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (accession no 68.141.255a, b); Victoria and Albert Museum, London (museum no. M.704:1, 2-1926); and the Ashmolean, Oxford.
