A RARE ARCHAIC BRONZE WINE VESSEL, ZUN
WESTERN ZHOU DYNASTY (1100-770 B.C.)
The vessel is modelled with a square base, rising up to a bulbous body and a flaring circular mouth rim. The exterior of the body is cast with a band of archaic scrolls with mythical animal masks, interspersed by four flanges. There is an inscription to the centre of the interior.

The inscription to the interior of the vessel reads zha fu ding bao zun ding, followed by a further illegible character. This may be translated as 'this precious vessel was made for Fu Ding'.
