AN UNUSUAL STAINED IVORY AND ROCK-CRYSTAL-INSET RUYI SCEPTER
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)
The crystal ruyi head is carved with a scene of Shoulao holding a staff and standing between a stag and a crane, beneath a fruit-laden peach branch. The arched, red-stained ivory handle is carved on both sides with archaistic dragons and birds reserved on a diaper ground. The crystal tip of the handle is carved from rock-crystal with a stylized chilong, and pierced to hold the yellow silk cord.
